Most car detail jobs finish with a polish. Paint correction is different. It's a controlled cut and refinement of the clear coat using machine pads and abrasives, levelling out defects rather than just glossing over them.
The fine concentric scratches that only show under direct sun. Levelled out so the paint reflects properly again.
Paint that's lost its bite gets the depth and clarity back. The colour pops, the reflection sharpens, and the car looks years newer.
Photographs better and inspects better. A presale paint correction adds value at private sale, often well above the cost.
A coating locks in the paint as it is. Correction first means the gloss the coating preserves is the gloss you actually want.
Every car's paint sits somewhere different on the scale, so we quote after an inspection under proper lighting. The stages below are what each booking covers, the price comes back honest to the work involved.
Light defects
Newer cars or well-kept paint with minor swirl marks and light wash-induced scratches.
Moderate defects
Daily drivers with visible swirls, light scratches and dulled clear coat. The most common booking.
Heavy defects
Neglected paint, swirl-heavy, oxidised, marked. Where the clear coat needs serious recovery before it's coated.
Cut, refine, protect. The order matters and the pad and polish choice matters more. We don't one-step a car that needs two.
Paint depth gauge if needed, swirl light to see what's there. We work out the right number of stages so we cut once, not twice.
Foam pre-soak, two-bucket hand wash, iron remover and clay block. Every contaminant pulled out before any pad touches the paint.
Heavier compound on a cutting pad to level swirls and defects. We work panel by panel, not the whole car at once.
Lighter polish on a finishing pad to remove cutting marks and bring up clarity. The step that turns levelled paint into wet-look gloss.
Sealed with a long-life paint protectant, or prepped for ceramic coating if that's the next step. Care notes in your hand.
